Discovered in 1993, White buffalo has only been found in an area of the Dry Creek Mine, from Tonopah, Nevada that was mined and cut by the miner. Many people call this "White Turquoise" because it comes from a turquoise mine, making it easy to associate this stone with the beloved blue mineral, however White Buffalo is actually a calcite mineral called dolomite. Determined by its black veins, this is a distinctive stone that is a must have for any turquoise enthusiast.
Unlike the name suggests, the stone actually has nothing to do with any part of the animal. Instead it gets its name from the Native Americans of the West that named it after the animals because this stone is as rare and beautiful as a real white buffalo. The Lakota's and other Tribe of the Plains, hold white buffalos to be a sacred animal because only about 1 in 10,000 are born white or albino.
Metaphysically, white buffalo symbolizes abundance, prosperity, and purification. This stone also has protective qualities because it absorbs negative energy so you never have to think twice about someone's unaligned intentions toward you, something, or someone you care about.
