Labradorite was discovered in 1770 in the Labrador region of Canada, but is now found in a variety of places around the world, with Madagascar being one of the best sources of what's on the market today. It is the most well known of the plagioclase feldspar family, along with moonstone and sunstones.
The lore of this stone comes from the indigenous cultures of the northern regions, who believed that the stars and aurora borealis were trapped within the labradorite stone. With a hammer strike to these stones, warriors believed they would free some of the stars from which it was trapped. Meanwhile, the stars that stayed behind, stayed in the form of these crystals.
Labradorite is said to stimulate and work with the Third Eye Chakra, helping you to hear your intuition a little more loud and clear. Its captivating flash is one to stop anyone from having a look, and when you gaze deep into its magic flash of color, it truly is a spectacle to evoke insight, introspection, and compassion for the natural world.
