Larimar is like when you're looking at a body of water, and the sun hits it just right. It's calming and serene, a small moment where you feel completely at peace. It is created by lava over millions of years and is only found in the Dominican Republic. The man who named it was there for the Peace Corps in the 70's and named it after his daughter, Larissa and the Spanish word for sea ~ mar ~ Lari-mar. 

As of about 2021-2022, the Dominican Republic has banned export of Larimar due to a decrease in source. Since it comes from volcanic tubes, there is a chance that miners could continue deeper into the mine area, however resources to get that far down are not economical. That being said- these are stones to hang onto! With less new material coming to market, the price of the stone will only increase.
