Sowbelly Agate is a type of banded amethyst, this gem was mined in Creede, Colorado and cut here in Carbondale. 

Amethyst is quartz with iron and manganese inclusions that occur during its growth period in the Earth’s Crust. Since quartz is one of the most common crystals on Earth, amethyst is also rather common, although one of the most striking of a gem nonetheless.

Amethyst is associated with the third eye chakra, and said to be one of the most healing of all crystals for its ability to help you switch any self-doubting tendencies, into more optimistic and empowered mindsets. In turn, when being worn with intention, can encourage tranquility, self-discipline and structure.
