Ruby x Spinel Earrings

Ruby is a stone of love, protection and abundance. It is a gem that's associated with the root chakra, which grounds and stabilizes us, while also rejuvinating our soul with the divine forces of the Earth.

A precious gemstone that is in the same family as sapphire - Corundum, with the only difference being the presence of chromium in ruby, rather than trace amounts of titanium or nickle in sapphire. This presence of chromium in ruby is unique because it also is what makes all rubies glow under UV light. It is peculiar, however, that chromium doesn't always give gems this effect, and is specific to rubies.

This lavender spinel is old stock material from a mine that is now closed in Afghanistan, sourced and cut by a lovely lady in Pakistan.
