Paraiba Blue Apatite

Brazil

Sterling Silver

17" Figaro Chain

✧ ✧ ✧

A juicy and very distinct blue, the Paraiba region of Brazil is known for producing tourmalines and apatite with high amounts of copper and manganese that give these gems such a bright teal blue color. Although this gem was first found in Paraiba, Brazil, it can also be found in Mozambique and Nigeria.

Apatite was first discovered in 1786 by German Geologist A.G. Werner, although the name is derived from the greek term apatan - "to deceive" because people would find it thinking it was beryl or peridot. Although it holds a beauty of its own, it's a softer stone than both beryl and peridot, which is why it hasn't gained as much popularity as a gemstone comparatively.

Blue Apatite symbolizes emotional balance and processing, which then leads to us having more clear communication. When we know what we want out of life, it gets easier to express to others what we want and hope for, as well as creating a better inner dialogue with ourselves.
